| Asian Institute of TeleSurgery / ASIA-IRCAD (Taiwan) Chairman: MH Huang President: J Marescaux First Advanced Course in Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery- TAIWAN December 4-5, 2008 > Traditional Chinese version All of the international Faculty of IRCAD will be in Taiwan for this event! In the light of the successful advanced courses in Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery that have been regularly held at the IRCAD in Strasbourg since the year 1996, the ASIA IRCAD Taiwan Center will be holding the very first two-day advanced course in Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery from the 4th to the 5th of December 2008. All of the IRCAD's faculty in this field, as well as internationally renowned experts, will be travelling to Taiwan to demonstrate laparoscopic colorectal procedures and train surgeons to standard and advanced colorectal techniques: Course directors: Heald RJ (United Kingdom), Leroy J (France), Wu HS (Taiwan) Faculty: Ambrosetti P (Switzerland), Barthelemy R (France), Chen W (Taiwan), Demartines N (Switzerland), Forgione A (Italy), Heald RJ (United Kingdom), Huscher C (Italy), Kwok S (Hong Kong), Law LW (Hong Kong), Li M (Hong Kong), Leroy J (France), Marescaux J (France), Marks J (USA), Mutter D (France), Okuda J (Japan), Pasupathy S (Singapore), Perretta S (Italy), Ponzano C (Italy), Rullier E (France), Salky B (USA), Watanabe H (Japan), Wu HS (Taiwan), Zheng MH (China). This very first course will be held in a similar way to the ones at the IRCAD, with theoretical sessions, live operations transmitted to the conference rooms and hands-on practice on live tissue in the experimental lab equipped with 23 operating tables and the latest technology, all in a majestic environment. Course objectives:
- To cover a broad spectrum of surgical procedures in colorectal surgery.
- To provide indications for surgical treatment and discuss operative complications.
- To highlight technicalities of surgical interventions through the broadcasting of live procedures.
- To allow real-time discussion between the operators and the surgeon trainees.
- To provide hands-on sessions to improve skills in laparoscopic surgery through practice on live tissue under experts’ tutorials.
- To describe postoperative clinical results and practical applications of evidence-based clinical medicine.
Key assets of this course: interactive theoretical and video sessions between Faculty and course participants; hands-on training on live tissue (mini-pigs) in the experimental lab.
